Ciokarrua
Modica, Sicily, Italy
Giovanni Cicero
It is 2007. The small Ciokarrua workshop opens in the rural area of Baroque Modica. Innovation in tradition is the philosophy that summarizes the vision of Giovanni Cicero, the company's artisan entrepreneur. A project inspired by the history of the family, which has made carob a work and a twenty-year commitment, but which today aims to build its own identity.
If carob is a destiny, then chocolate is a choice.
Work the pulp and extract the essence. Toast the beans, mix the aromas, create the bars. The products tell the city and its history, passing from popular manual skills to new processing techniques. The comparison with the national and international market, participation in fairs and events, become a moment of growth and inspiration. From the experience of EXPO 2015, Ciokarrua returns to Sicily with a renewed imagination that focuses on the contamination of time, ideas and places, to trace new goals.
In 2017, it rethinks its spaces and, in the new, more functional context, the laboratory becomes a true artisan workshop , where the machinery is built to the measure of desires and ambitions and where the curious can enter to discover the gears of taste.
