Borgo La Rocca
San Nicola Manfredi, Campania, Italy
Nicola Mercurio
"La Rocca" is a small ancient village located in the province of Benevento, in an area of the municipality of San Nicola Manfredi that touches the Irpinia hills. Its origins are lost in history, but it is known for sure that the ancestors of those who now reside in the small hamlet of Monterocchetta have inhabited it for centuries, before migrating to the hills and leaving the valley intact to this day.
Today the Borgo preserves and transmits all the tradition of its ancient inhabitants: the uncontaminated land, the pure waters and the slow rhythms of nature continue to live as if time had stopped, giving us the vegetables that we are committed to preserving with equal care.
We grow our vegetables in open fields and not in greenhouses, strictly following the rhythms that the seasons have always marked on our land.
Since 2005, the year the company was founded, we have chosen the organic farming method, to preserve the authenticity of our products and, at the same time, defend the nature that offers them.
We harvest the vegetables manually and not mechanically, because only in this way can we choose those that are really ripe and ready to become delicious preserves.
The vegetables are strictly processed from fresh, within 12 hours of harvesting.
The selection and cutting of vegetables, crucial moments in defining the quality of the final product, are carried out by hand, following the traditional recipes of the place that the "housewives" have been handed down, for centuries, from mother to daughter.
